Monday Vase: Sweet Faces

Violas, Monday Vase meme
For this morning's Monday vase I was inspired by a small teacup and saucer decorated with violets.  The violas are blooming now, and their cheerful faces seemed perfect to combine with the cup.

Along with the violas, whose short, slender stems required plenty of other material, I added lavender...

.. and lemon thyme.  The thyme has just started sending out its delicate blooms.

The violas had to be arranged in a rather loose fashion.

The whole is just a small posy in a teacup.

It smells wonderful!

Linking, as always, to Cathy's Monday vase meme at Rambling in the Garden, where many other lovely vases can be viewed each week...

Happy Monday!

  3. Just perfect - your flowers work so well with that pretty cup! I am planning to work on improving my herb garden this year - all your lovely herbs have been a great inspiration.

    1. Thank you, Julie! I do love the herbs I've grown (sage went into the east bed yesterday...), and I've been amazed at how convenient they are for cutting. I'll look forward to seeing yours go in! By the way, I really appreciate your detailed reply some months back about your new camera lens. Your information helped me make what has been a very satisfactory choice, namely, an 85mm lens. Light enough to carry on hikes - hardly heavier than the 18-55mm lens I was using - but much better for close-up! Thanks :)

  4. Pansies were my first crush in the flower world. I can remember tumbling head over heels in love with them at an estate that employed my grandmother as a housekeeper when I was about 4 years old and, to this day, I feel delight whenever I see them. Thanks for sharing yours.

    1. I fell in love with pansies at about age 7 ;-) and this little teacup - which is a much more recent gift from my sister - has always reminded me of the way I felt about pansies and violets when I was little. So glad you enjoyed these too!

    1. The herbs work so well, don't they? Very long-lasting, for one thing, and many have rather attractive foliage. Thanks for enjoying :)
