Very little has actually changed since last month, other than an increased number of yellow leaves...
...and fewer leaves on the branches, both perhaps due to a long time with no rainfall.
Otherwise, the trees are their usual selves, lightly covered in a sparse million of tiny leaves over soft green branches and trunk.
So today's post will mostly be pictures. Some were taken in evening light and are rather dark; the rest in the morning...
Evening light...
...and morning light...
...over green branches.
I don't think I've photographed the elegant wrinkles in the bark before!
Here is a damaged spot, calloused over.
And there are the lingering seedpods, open...
...and still closed.

So lovely to see a Parkinsonia! I have often heard about them, so now I know what they look like. They really are lovely and seem to have a wonderful airy look about them. I was really taken with the olive green trunk and branches too because that must look especially pretty with the yellow flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe soft green of the bark is so special - all the more so since it still gives a shady look when the tree is nearly leafless in mid-summer drought. And I'm counting the months till it blooms again... (should be April-ish) ;-)
DeleteVery atmospheric pictures, especially the last one with the fine cobwebs
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :)
DeleteSuch a delicate tree!
ReplyDeleteI particularly like that picture in evening light against the dark background.
And I hope you will join us all again in 2016!
All the best :)
Thanks a lot, SB! I certainly intend to keep on; this has been such a rewarding adventure :)
DeleteGreen, green, green! No wonder it was named palo verde.
ReplyDeleteA perfect name, isn't it?! Green from top to bottom...
DeleteI loved that wrinkled bark!
ReplyDeleteI do too, and I can't figure out why I hadn't photographed it before! :)
