Here is a touch of January cheer...

It's hard to better marguerites...

...and violas...

...for sunny good cheer.

It's a very small handful of flowers, and I tucked them into a tiny French creamer covered with blue forget-me-nots.

And even a butterfly!

The only other material I used was some stems of lemon thyme.

The marguerite daisy (Argyranthemum frutescens) is beginning to bloom strongly now, brightening a still sparsely planted section of the East Border.  So a few of its sunny blooms came indoors today.

And my recently planted violas are settling into the South Border, but a few smiles came along inside for the posy.

    1. Isn't it a charmer? My sister gave it to me for Christmas years ago, and it is just perfect for the blue and yellow combination.

  2. so cheerful, Amy - it has brightened a grey morning! (I almost called my 'vase' post 'cheerful' as I used Narcissus 'Cheerful' this week).

    1. So glad it did, Ann! Even here, January can take a bit of extra cheerfulness ;-) Maybe I should try the narcissus too. I grew Yellow Cheerfulness in my earlier garden, but never the white; I know I would like it!

    1. I've begun to wonder why I wish people happy Monday when I usually don't manage to post until 11:00 pm or so...! So pleased you enjoyed it in any case, Hollis :)

    1. Thanks! This was a particularly satisfying one, Cathy. I think it has a lot to do with the blue flowers on the tiny jug... ;-)

    1. Wasn't that little jug perfect for them - and it wasn't even planned, but so obvious once I had brought the flowers in... Yellow and blue are always good!
