...and beside them there was an early blossom on rose "Wollerton Old Hall".
Whether there will be another opportunity to pair these flowers is doubtful, so I seized today's chance to combine them.
And how perfect it was that one plant from my mix of Ranunculus has flowers of a burnt orange hue similar to the freesias.
It balances the other side of the bouquet.
A single stem of Artemisia "Powis Castle" fills out the mix with silver foliage.
This was a hastily collected and arranged vaseful, but none the worse for it, I hope. Thanks to Cathy for hosting the Monday Vase meme and to everyone else who shares in making it such a bright spot on Mondays!
Oh those colors, they're gorgeous! Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Loree! I have a soft spot for flaming orange and red, I think ;-)
DeleteSo lovely to see more of the gorgeous orange ranunculus and freesias and I have always loved your Wollerton Old Hall rose - the combination with your shapely vase seems most appropriate for your desert garden, Amy. Thnaks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Cathy! Wollerton Old Hall is a magnificent variety here, and I couldn't resist the chance to combine a rose with the freesias as I keep expecting the latter to go over fairly soon. However, the weather turned cooler lately, and they seem to be soldiering on :)
DeleteThe silver Artemisia complements the bright oranges beautifully! Isn't the smell of Freesia heavenly?
ReplyDeleteI admit that the artemisia was an afterthought, but I couldn't have picked better if I'd tried. Yes, I love smelling the Freesias, though the fragrance seemed to fade fairly quickly when they were cut. I think this garden needs more Freesias... ;-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful arrangement of colour. Perfect for brightening any room.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - it certainly does a good job brightening the dinner table :)
DeleteI love your burnt orange freesias and Ranunculus, such a glorious color, and it goes so well with the silvery foliage and peachy rose. The rounded shape of your vase is lovely too, Amy, and goes well with hot desert colors.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the vase, Hannah :) I've been so happy about the colors as both freesias and ranunculus arrived color-unknown, the ranunculus from a batch of mixed colors and the freesias as a faded bargain-buy. They couldn't have blended better if I'd tried!
DeleteA fiery arrangement Amy, with a well matched terracotta pot.
ReplyDeleteI think it's amusing that I've accidentally added these fiery orange colours; both came in as unknowns, but I couldn't have matched them better if I'd tried ;-)
DeleteI really love these colours Amy. What a gorgeous Freesia, and lovely photos too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Cathy! I was amazed that the Freesias pulled through (they were purchased from the bargain shelf!), and still more amazed at the colour as I had expected a yellow... just love the way they turned out ;-)
DeleteYour arrangements are always so stunning Amy. The colors and choice of container are just outstanding and, of course, the photos are to die for! Well done!
ReplyDelete- Kate xx
Thanks so very much, Kate! Those bronze flowers could have inspired many more arrangements, though the freesias are now past their prime so I'll have to wait till next year... And I really do like that little pot with Wollerton Old Hall; there's always something very satisfactory about the combination :)
