So today's vase...
...contains a couple of sunflower blooms...
...along with Salvia farinacea...
...Catharanthus roseus...
...foliage of Artemesia x Powis Castle...
...and flowering stems of Pennisetum setaceum rubrum.
I love the lemon yellow color as well as the abundance of bloom on this sunflower.
Sunflower "Solar Eclipse" steals the show... The jar is one of my handthrown stoneware pieces, this one glazed in classic tin white. |

Good grief, Amy - that is indeed a multi-flowered sunflower! I have never seen anything like it :) The fact that the heads vary so much in size is intriguing too. The pennisteum is a wonderful addition to the vase - how long will it last?
ReplyDeleteThe Pennisetum has been lasting beautifully and even drying nicely. And yes, that huge cluster of sunflowers is intriguing, isn't it?! Makes it easier to decide to cut some too ;-)
DeleteAnother breath-taking post!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Derek :)
DeleteI need to try that sunflower! I also had trouble getting my sunflower seeds to sprout this year and those that bloomed (only 'Lemon Queen') haven't been impressive.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what's going on with sunflowers sprouting... I was so impressed by yours last year that I made sure to grow some this. I guess I've gotten enough to whet my appetite and make me sure I want to try more next year ;-)
DeleteGood heavens, that sunflower is amazing! Love the vase with the spiky grasses. Fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI had no idea the flowers would cluster like that -- will certainly want to try it again ;-) Thanks so much, Cathy!
DeleteA sunny happy arrarrangement, I really like the second from last picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! So glad I got my courage up to cut a couple of sunflowers... ;-)
